Simi seal leech

Material needed:
Hook:  3x long streamer hook.
Thread:  Wine 8/0
Tail:  AZ synthetics simi seal dubbing, black/red.
Body:  AZ synthetics simi seal dubbing, black/red.
Bead:  (optional)  Conehead, or regular bead.

Place your bead on the hook.

Wrap some lead wire around the hook shank, then slide it into the inside of the bead, and continue wrapping to fill the inside of the bead.

You can use a pair of pliers to push your lead wraps into the inside of the bead.

Start your thread just behind the lead wraps, and cover your lead wraps with thread.

Select a clump of dubbing, separate and re-stack the fibers to line them up.  You may need to do it 10 or so times before you have a workable tail.

Tie in your tail at the hook point with a few tight thread wraps.

Fold the tag ends of your tail over, and tie it down.

Put a drop of Zap-a-gap, head cement, super glue, or other on the tail tie down point.

Make a dubbing loop with your thread, and wrap your thread to the front of the hook.

Put a generous amount of dubbing in the loop....

...and twist.

Wrap the dubbing loop forward and build the body.  Stroke the fibers back after every wrap.

Tie off your dubbing loop, and whip finish.

Use a dubbing brush to tease out the fibers.  Don't be afraid to use some pressure.
